121clinicians privacy policy is based on Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) of British Columbia,  and Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDIA) and adheres to the ten general internationally recognized privacy principles.

As a general rule The purpose of these Acts and principles have been to govern the collection, use and disclosure of personal information by organizations in a manner that recognizes both the right of individuals to protect their personal information and the need of organizations to collect, use or disclose personal information for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances.

We collect your personal information and contact details that are require to enable physicians and health professionals to deliver Telehealth and Telemedicine services to you.

Because of the nature of services that physicians and health professionals offer to patients and clients we need to collect personal information of patients and clients as detailed as possible to ensure that exchange of medical information occurs exactly with the right person.

Accordingly, The personal information that we collect include legal first name, middle name, last name , date of birth and gender at birth.

In the course of management and providing advice by physicians and health professionals they may receive important laboratory results , imaging results or other communications that could be very important for your health and you may need to be notified immediately. Therefore , we need to have different means of contacts including email, phone number, mailing address and it is in your best interest if you assign a second point of contact in case we are unable to reach you to notify you of important results.

We will not release your personal details, contact information or health information to any third parties without your permission unless in some rare situations that we are required by law or a court order to disclose your information.

For quality improvements, improvements in your overall health and wellbeing and optimal care or treatment for your medical conditions risk we may contact you and you have the option to opt out from receiving these communications.

Your information is stored in the same medical software systems that are widely used by many physical clinics and hospitals that you attend and every effort been made to make them as secure as possible. But you must understand and agree that there is an inherent risk in using technology and virtual care has some inherent privacy and security risks that your health information may be intercepted or unintentionally disclosed. We want to make sure you understand this before you proceed.

 In order to improve privacy and confidentiality, you should also take steps to participate in this virtual care encounter in a private setting and should not use an employer’s or someone else’s computer/device as they may be able to access your information.

The office of the privacy commissioner of Canada requires verifiable parental consent for collection of personal information of children under the age of 13.

121clinicians does not allow anybody under the age of 16 years of age to create stand alone log in accounts to use its platforms. However parents and guardians are allowed to add accounts for children of any age.

Every single person will have their own specific electronic medical record profile created for them regardless of their age. For clarity an example is given: A parent can add a profile for their new born child and consult a licensed physician via 121clinicians platform. A unique medical record file will be created for that new born child but the contact information of that child will be the contact information of the parent or legal guardian of the child.

121clinicians has the right to suspend or cancel any user account if reasonably believes that the user is in breach of any provisions of our privacy policy or terms of use.

If as a parent or guardian it has come to your attention that your under 16 years of age child has somehow created a stand alone user account with log in and passwords please notify us at Contact us – 121clinicians.com and we will assess, investigate and take appropriate action.

We may amend, edit, add or change our privacy policies from time to time without your knowledge or without any notification to you but we will always remain compliant with the privacy regulations and we do our best at all times to protect your information to the best of our abilities.
